Curtain-Wall And Skylight Replacement At West Quad Gymnasium Building Brooklyn College, NY

The Two-Court Gymnasium Building is located in the West Quad of Brooklyn College. The project included two areas of work:

1. Re-design and rehabilitation of a 115’ x 15’ curtain-wall and lean-to skylight that had failed under the snow loads: The project entailed extensive analysis of the existing structure in terms of differential movement and deflections under live loads. The skylight system was designed to move and deflect deferentially along with the deflection of the supporting building structure under imposed loads.

2. Redesign of the glass entrance vestibule to comply with building codes and addition of ADA doors.
