Replacement of Louvers At Various Ventilation Buildings
Lincoln Tunnel, Midtown Manhattan, NY
The scope of the project comprised of replacement of about 8000 SF of all exterior louvers at the Land and River Ventilation Buildings for the Lincoln Tunnel on the New York side. The existing bronze louvers on the building faces were original from the construction of the buildings in 1935 and are now significantly deteriorated. Thus, allowing water infiltration from the exterior which often caused a hindrance to the proper functioning of the ventilation systems. A need was recognized to replace all the louvers with new in order to make the buildings more weather tight and efficiently carry out their functions. Replacement custom wind-driven rain-resistant aluminum louvers were design. The louvers were carefully selected to match the existing louvers in color, design and louver blade size, so as not to alter the historic appearance of the buildings.
